Congresswoman Becca Balint visited Feeding Champlain Valley’s Burlington Food Shelf to observe our ongoing efforts to alleviate hunger at a time when 65,000 Vermonters are seeing cuts to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
During her visit, Balint met with Feeding Champlain Valley staff and volunteers, observed our culinary team in action as they prepared nutritious meals, and spoke with staff from the Community Resource Center, a program of CVOEO that provides assistance to people experiencing homelessness. The Congresswoman shared her thoughts on the importance of these vital community resources, stating “there are so many people out here in the field working so hard to make sure that you have food for yourselves and for your kids.”
With the holidays fast approaching, neighbors across the Champlain Valley are worried about setting the table with staples like turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. You can help us feed 10,000 families and neighbors before the end of this year visiting our website, www.feedingchamplainvalley.org/get-involved/ and providing a monetary contribution to Feeding Champlain Valley’s Holidays Without Hunger campaign.
Thank you again to Congresswoman Becca Balint and her team for visiting our Burlington Food Shelf to see the work being done to ensure food access for all. Click the link in our bio to watch NBC5’s coverage of the Congresswoman’s visit.
