NorthWest Family Foods, the Richford Food Shelf, and Healthy Roots Collaborative
Feeding Champlain Valley operates two food shelves serving residents of Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, NorthWest Family Foods and the Richford Food Shelf. NorthWest Family Foods is located within Franklin & Grand Isle Community Action in St. Albans, while the Richford Food Shelf is housed within the Northern Tier Center for Health (NOTCH), a federally qualified health center in Richford.
NorthWest Family Foods manages approximately 250,000 lbs. of food and is open every weekday, while operating outreach sites in Richford (Franklin County) and Alburgh (Grand Isle County) twice a month, and in Isle La Motte (Grand Isle County) the first two Thursdays of the month.
Healthy Roots Collaborative (HRC) is a regional food systems program supporting the growers, producers, and consumers in Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. HRC rescues quality vegetables and fruits from farms and redistributes to charitable food sites. HRC also runs two food box programs: Northwest Farmacy CSA in partnership with the NOTCH, distributing local produce to 8 of the 14 NOTCH locations throughout Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, including the Richford Food Shelf, and the Migrant Household Food Box program in partnership with Bridges to Health.
